Speech of the Dean of the College of Oil and Gas Engineering
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of creation and messengers, our Master Muhammad, and upon his good and pure family and his righteous companions.
The College of Oil and Gas Engineering was established in 2013 as a nucleus for Basra University of Oil and Gas in Basra Governorate, given its significant position in the region, particularly with the abundant oil production. It was founded as a specialized college in the field of oil and gas engineering to support the oil sector with specialized engineering cadres in both extractive and transformational oil industries.
At its inception, the college included two departments: the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Oil Refining. Later, a third department was added, the Department of Polymer and Petrochemical Engineering. The academic system followed in all departments of our college is the semester system, and the Bologna Process has been adopted starting from the academic year 2023-2024 with advanced curricula centered on graduates and the quality of learning outcomes. Our college strives to be a leading institution in the field of oil industries, providing the oil sector with efficient engineering cadres possessing advanced skills that enable them to activate modern technologies for the benefit and prosperity of society. We also aspire for our college to excel in scientific research and the completion of applied research that keeps pace with the rapid development in various oil specializations, akin to advanced global universities.
