Global Participation of a Student from the College of Oil and Gas Engineering at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in the United States
===========================================================================
The third-year student from the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering at Basra University for Oil and Gas (Zahraa Muhannad Kazem) participated with a scientific research paper at the world's largest oil and gas conference, the Offshore Technology Conference (the 100th edition):
Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2024
which is currently being held in Houston, Texas, USA, from May 6th to 9th.
The research was supervised by Dr. Engineer Wathiq Jassim Al-Muzaffar from Basra Oil Company in collaboration with Professor Dr. Dandina Rao from the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Louisiana State University in the United States.
The research title was:
OTC-31846-MS: Development and Simulation of Huff-N-Puff and Single-Well Gas-Assisted Gravity Drainage Processes for the EOR Design in Offshore Oil Fields
The research develops a new method for enhanced oil recovery that involves three main and sequential stages (CO2 gas injection phase - pause phase - production phase) with the aim of storing gas while simultaneously increasing oil recovery and reducing water cut levels in depleted oil reservoirs.
It is noted that the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is characterized by scientific rigor and strong organization, held annually in Houston, USA, attended by tens of thousands of researchers and industry experts from over 100 countries, with approximately 500 papers presented on the latest advancements in the oil and gas industry.
Statistics indicate that attendance at the 2024 conference has exceeded 30,000 oil and gas industry experts, with more than 1,300 companies participating in the accompanying exhibition, and over 450 scientific papers presented.
It is also worth noting that the research is currently available on OnePetro:
