 Module Objectives

أهداف المادة الدراسية

 

 

  1. To develop the basic knowledge of the student in terms of petrochemical processing. To understand voltage, current and power from a given circuit.
  2. This course deals with the basic concept of processing of petrochemical production.
  3. This module gives a full description of type of reactor used for petrochemical production.
  4. To understand the type of petrochemical processing for number of petrochemical products.
  5. To understand the flow of prosses during the production of some petrochemicals.

  1. Recognize how petrochemicals are produced.
  2. List the various terms associated with petrochemical prosses.
  3. Summarize the flow of each process in petrochemical industry.
  4. Discuss the reaction involve in some petrochemicals production line.
  5. Describe the flow of different petrochemical during the production in petrochemical unit.
  6. Define Ohm's law.
  7. Identify the basic of number of units used in petrochemicals production.

The processes of production of number of petrochemicals as following:

 

Acetic acid – Acrylic acid – Acrylonitrile – Alkylbenzene - Ammonia - Aniline – Aromatics extraction - Aromatics extractive distillation - Aromatization – Benzene – Bisphenol- Butadiene - Butyraldehyde, Carboxylic acid – Dimethyl carbonate - Dimethyl terephthalate –Dimethylformamide – Ethanol-to-ethylene oxide/ethylene glycols – Ethers Ethyl acetate Ethylbenzene – Ethylbenzene – Ethylene – Ethylene glycols (EG) – Ethylene oxide –Ethylene recovery from refinery off gas with contaminant removal – Formaldehyde – Hexene-1 – Isobutylene –Isomerization - Iso-octene/Iso-octane – Maleic anhydride –Melamine, Methanol – Polyalkylene terephthalates-melt-to-resins (MTR) – Polyethylene – Polypropylene – Polystyrene –Propylene – Urea – Xylene isomerization . (125 hrs)

Strategies

 

The main strategy that will be adopted in delivering this module is to encourage students’ participation in the exercises, while at the same time refining and expanding their critical thinking skills. This will be achieved through classes, interactive tutorials and by considering types of simple experiments involving some sampling activities that are interesting to the students.
