  1. Introduce students to the fundamental concepts and principles of management in the context of engineering and industrial settings.
  2. Provide an understanding of the various functional areas of management, including organization, operations, marketing, quality, project, maintenance, finance, and human resources.
  3. Familiarize students with the importance of effective facility location, layout planning, and distribution strategies in optimizing business operations.
  4. Develop skills in project management, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
  5. Highlight the significance of total quality management and its application in ensuring product and service excellence.
  6. Explore the key aspects of financial management, including budgeting, cost analysis, and investment decisions.

Strategies

 

The main strategy that will be adopted in delivering this module is to encourage students’ participation in the exercises, while at the same time refining and expanding their critical thinking skills. This will be achieved through classes, interactive tutorials and by considering types of simple experiments involving some sampling activities that are interesting to the students.
