I am a physicist specializing in nanophotonics, holding a PhD in nanophysics from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. My research focuses on the design of semiconductor nanowires and nanostructures, as well as the study of their properties and applications. Currently, I am working on integrating my specialization in nanophysics with petroleum research, where I use nanostructures to improve the properties of oil clays and to remove impurities from petroleum products during the refining stage, both experimentally and theoretically, through advanced modeling and simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics. I have 25 years of academic experience, having begun my career in higher education in 2001 as a teaching assistant in the Physics Department at the University of Basra. From 2013 to 2018, I had a scholarship for PhD degree in the UK, during which I participated in several international and local conferences and also taught in the Physics Department at Lancaster University. In 2020, I moved to work as a lecturer at the University of Basra for Oil and Gas in the College of Engineering. Through teaching, supervision, mentoring, and scientific communication, I strive to inspire the next generation of researchers and to strengthen the presence of Iraqi scientific research within the global scientific community.
